Somatic Work

In Katonah Yoga, we often use the metaphor of the body as one’s house. We explicitly say it is not a temple because you don’t have to be that precious!! Instead of implementing rules and guidelines around a culture inundated with toxic positivity and self-help, we say learn your patterning, and then learn the patterning of Great Nature. This gives YOU the sovereignty of choice. Throw a party in your home, have fun and let loose, and know how to go in and clean it up and reorient so that after your big moment of expansiveness you know how to receive insights. To this end, we emphasize creating a stable and well-oriented container (body) through the use of archetypal forms.

Lesson series

In this course, we will lay the foundation in an accessible way so that the techniques can be used to soothe the nervous system and reorient the mind. 

This is done firstly by learning how to stabilize the body within its own frame, using the intelligence of Great Nature to hold ourselves. Once we have a stable frame, we can fill it! Breathwork is how we move into this practice by demanding the universe feed us through upping the function of our capacity, breath. This allows us to learn techniques to change our chemistry and step into our power by utilizing our skills to be powerful in the world.
